Tui Na

Tui Na massage

Tui Na (also known as Acupressure) is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy, often used in combination with acupuncture. The name comes from two of the actions, Tui meaning ‘to push’ and Na meaning to ‘grasp.’

Tui Na is a medical massage which can alleviate pain, improve flexibility and mobility of the joints, promote relaxation and ease tension. It can be used to treat stress or physical strains and injuries. It is very relaxing and covers sports, body and remedial massage treatments.

It involves applying pressure directly to specific locations of the body (acu points) and incorporates a variety of techniques such as pressing, tapping, and kneading with the palms and fingertips. Gentle to firm pressure is applied to remove energy blockages, increase blood flow, correct posture and promote healing.

Tui Na is not only used to treat complaints but also protects health by encouraging good circulation, strengthening muscles and tendons, eliminating fatigue and promoting longevity.

As with Acupuncture, Tui Na Massage includes a full consultation and TCM analysis to diagnose the nature of imbalance, and accordingly prescribe an appropriate combination of acu points to include in treatment.
