Chinese Herbal Medicine

Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the oldest forms of internal medicine in the world, been developed and practised for over 5,000 years. Formulas predominantly consist of plant elements such as roots, barks, flowers, fruits, seeds and resins.  Each has its own unique characteristic and specific medical use to treat disease and rectify the imbalance of yin and yang, restoring the body to its natural balance.

Historically, raw herb concoctions would be boiled in water and the resulting tea would be drunk.

Today's hectic lifestyle means that this is not always practical or possible, so I tend to prescribe pharmaceutical grade concentrated herbal granules, which arepersonally tailored to individual needs, and can be made up by simply adding hot water. A prescription typically consists of several herbs which have been shown to employ greater effect than single herb prescriptions.

Chinese Herbal Medicine, when practised by a fully trained and experienced practitioner, is extremely safe and side effects are very rare in comparison to treatment using pharmaceutical drugs. Your course of treatment will be monitored and reviewed with regular follow-up appointments.

At The Era Clinic no herbs of endangered species or substances of animal origin are used. All herbal extracts are sources from approved RCHM suppliers and produced to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards to ensure safety, efficiency and consistency.
